Seventh grade seems so long ago after celebrating with you in paradise. Somehow I knew I would be here for this day for you Quinn; I just didn’ t know it would be Ann stealing you heart. I still remember the text that made me cuss aloud, reading that you needed a good place to find a ring and that you were ready. I loved watching the excitement in your eyes all week as each guest arrived and how proud you were that you were able to let your Ann dream up this day as it became 3D. A personal highlight might have been crashing on your parent’ s couch having flashbacks of sleepovers at the Cameron’ s followed by some of the best story swapping and picture sharing in the morning. A close second would have been the embrace (below) you gave each other for the first time seeing her in that dress. She cherishes your tender heart man. I hope these moments together give you as much joy as I had creating them. Instead of stringers of fish, you now get to hold up your very best prize: your bride.

There was so much fun to be had this weekend with Nathan & Nicole that we couldn't fit it all in one post.  What a perfect setting and one unforgettable wedding weekend in The Keys!

Key West is one of the most unique and special places in the world that I have gotten to explore.  The best visual I have been able to give people has been picturing if the State Fair had a vacation home, with a touch of southern hospitality.  When I met with Nathan and Nicole, the Caribbean was their dreamland. They eventually selected Key West as their location of choice, partly because of the charm and partly because it had a golf course, feeding their slight obsession.  Nicole is full of life and is a woman who lovingly speaks her mind, thanks to her Boston upbringing.  My wife thinks she is pretty darn fabulous!  Nathan is about as humble and gentle a guy as they come and his loyalty towards his friends is obvious.  The two just work like key lime and fresh pie!

The weekend started out to perfection with a sunset sail on a private catamaran.  Early the next morning, the gentlemen dusted off their golf clubs and enjoyed some heckling and laughs on the golf course.  Nathan tried his best to stay loose, knowing the big day ahead of him.  Nicole wrapped up her hair and make-up, and the two saw each other for the first time along the ocean boardwalk.  I was wiping away both tears and sweat as she spoke sweetly to him and kissed his big grin.  After giving them a few moments, we went sightseeing around Key West as I had picked out some places for us to play.  A personal highlight came when walking down the main street of Duval I called out to the trolley of tourists to give the bride and groom some love on their wedding day as Nathan scooped up his bride in his arms, turning a pleasant shade of pink.  I think it complimented the Key West green.  Following a touching beachside ceremony, we danced late into the night!  We adore you both!

.Lindsay & Russell. 02.2.2011

A little over a year ago I married into a wonderfully close, zany family that loves to laugh together.  Lindsay not only fits that mold as a cousin from that side, but in a family where brothers married sisters making her Janelle's double cousin in fact.  (I will let that saturate for a moment, and yet its totally legal.)  Russell maybe has a little clue just how fun this family can be, but I will do my best to coach him along in the initiation process from a fellow "outlaw" perspective.  Welcome partner!  This helps set the stage for an epic weekend away to St. Louis to celebrate the union of two people my wife and I love so unconditionally.

The day could not have been more beautiful.  Lindsay bounded around the house silent clapping in the air so not to wake sleeping children, but her glowing eyes said it all.  Meanwhile her best friend Russell was escorted to the bench in the park on which he proposed.  My heart leaped with every skip on the sidewalk Lindsay made on her way to tap her handsome groom on the shoulder.  Sun beams streamed through the towering canopy of gold as the two giggled and prayed over the afternoon ahead.  As both are very sentimental people, I chose places along the way that would help capture a day-in-the-life of Lindsay & Russell.  Stops along the way to the church included favorite date places, strolling parks for talking, and of course his motorcycle!  I was reminded that every man needs his two beauties in a picture.  The emotional ceremony downtown gave way to a boisterous party atop the sixth floor of Windows on Washington.  Both families will be talking about this day for years to come.  We miss you guys dearly!

There were just too many times I found myself laughing uncontrollably or welling up with tears, so we decided to create a whole separate post dedicated to the playfulness of Lindsay & Russell's contagious love.

These two rock climbers fell hard, not down, but in love and planned the most incredible way to celebrate.  "Why not Italy?"  Lake Como will forever be know as the setting for epic movies like Oceans 12, Star Wars, multiple George Clooney sightings, and now where Emily said yes to Richard.  The Alps served as the perfect frame for a week filled with stories shared by their closest friends and family.  They chose to give their loved ones the best view in Italy as a chartered boat picked guests up dressed in their favorite hat and escorted them to the town of Bellagio for fresh pizza.  The night carried on with the ladies nabbing Richard and the men stealing away Emily for some fun around town before retreating for some much needed sleep in preparation for the big day ahead.

Emily and Richard awoke to a fresh cup of cappuccino and stroll along the waterfront before heading to their rooms to prepare.  These two just light up with each other in their arms; often I felt like I was interrupting two best friends in a world of their very own.  I grew addicted to the way they laugh hard and simply adore each other.  After exploring colorful alleys, ancient olive groves, and castle walls, we met up with family at the church to prepare for the intimate ceremony.  The sun continued to sink in the sky but not before a handful of us grabbed some fresh lake air and grappa toast aboard a classic wooden boat.  Live music and zesty foods greeted us back at the plaza reception as towering cypress trees cast their long shadows across the gardens.  More toasts and tears gave way to one of the greatest dance parties Lake Como has ever seen!  Thank you for taking Janelle and me in like family; we love you both dearly!  Like any good Italian coffee, you two are blended just right.

I have told Ali & Walker if I hadn't been a wedding photographer, I would be living their life in St. Andrew's Scotland.  People have a love affair with that part of the world, and I could only imagine how intoxicating meeting Ali for the first time might have been for Walker.  I imagined it was his eyes locking with hers alone along the beaches where Chariots of Fire was filmed, but Walker insists it was far less cliche; obviously it turned out very well.  I had the honor to come along to document this epic day that started with a romantic ceremony, festive reception themed after airports, and continued across the water in New York City.  In true colonial fashion, Ali's transportation pulled up to the church doors, grabbed her father's arm, and headed immediately down the aisle.  Walker is as class act of a gentleman as they come and his tenderness towards his bride was apparent to all.  One of my favorite things about Ali is her joy, in particular her wonderful laugh.  After the reception that laugh could be heard all night around NYC as we ventured into Central Park for a night-cap stroll with the couple.  Ali's family had been instrumental in helping build the park so we found it a fitting close to the day.  Weeks later, their Minnesota reception was just as impressive as their fine taste in music and the arts.  Thank you for many new friends we now share!  Greet your loving families for us.

I have many fond memories of the Rockies between ski trips and fly fishing adventures.  Based on Amanda and Nick's wedding, I can now say that love stories may be a little sweeter at higher altitude.  When my baby cousin called and asked if I could capture her wedding day in the foothills of Colorado, I was so honored.  I don't know who was more nervous & excited leading into the day, the happy couple or the photographer!  To get to photograph Red Rocks Park was an added bonus on my bucket list and really just the perfect backdrop for this day.  After trouncing across fields and boulders, I was proud that Amanda may be the toughest bride ever and you could tell Nick was even impressed.  As the party rolled on up the hill to an incredible look-out, my favorite part of the night came when Amanda dedicated a dance to her parents in honor of their relentless Love.  There was not a dry eye in the place but those tears were quickly replaced by boisterous laughter.  What a celebration!  Nick & Amanda, I hope I was able to do justice to your sweetness and adoration for each other.  Nick, I may be a touch crazy, but you beat me on this day with the love you showered my cousin with.

Ben is one of the most gentle and honest people you will meet and he is infatuated by the Beauty he has found in Alejandra.  I mean, yes this woman is outwardly just stunning, but almost anyone she meets can attest to her sweetness of spirit and compassionate heart.  Ben and my friendship dates back to the days that we were both single and found joy in communicating our passion of skiing to youth in ski school.  I am proud to say he found someone to rival his passion in Ale.

They dreamed up a spectacular wedding in her home country of Mexico.  Almost 150 of her closest family and friends made the drive from Mexico City to the ocean paradise of Acapulco.  I had a year to brush up on my Spanish and it gave my wife Janelle even more motivation to start taking classes.  We were so honored to be invited!  The party began the night before where guests were invited up into the treetops of the jungle to a restaurant that would make hollywood jealous.  The "garden" ceremony site Ale described was in fact a perfect grove of palm trees framing off a reflecting pool at the edge of a beach.  Locals who know Mexico wedding sites say it is one of the very finest in Mexico and even in Central America.  After a mariachi-band-led ceremony, the music continued until 8:00am the next day!  Fireworks to close off their first dance was the perfect beginning to a lifetime of many more sparks.  We love you two!  Su familia es en mi corazon.

You pair a freestyle skiing coach with a nationally acclaimed racer, add a gondola and a foot of fresh powder and you have yourself an epic way to ring in the New Year!  Emmy and Palmer grew up on the slopes of Colorado so found it a natural fit in choosing Steamboat to celebrate their wedding.  We awoke to fresh tracks as the groomsmen hit the hill early; Emmy's father had special access as a ski patrol and made the ideal guide.  Meanwhile, the ladies were getting their final touches ready-in this case meaning skis sharpened in addition to makeup-and up we went on the Gondola.  The ceremony took place mid mountain as guests were encouraged to stay in their ski gear, clinking ski poles as they skied their way back down the hill as husband and wife.  In Colorado when freestylers say "let's hit the half-pipe" it takes on a whole new meaning as I would quickly learn; my three cameras strapped around my neck we had a blast!  The party continued until late into the night capped with Steamboat's traditional torchlight parade.  Thank you to the Hoyts and Barrs for adopting me into your loving families for the weekend!  See you again soon.
