Jessica and Andrew

Wedding Date: December 9th 2023

Every visit to the American Swedish Institute makes my Swedish heart happy and this was one for the history books! On the morning of Jessica and Andrews wedding, we all woke up to the first snowfall of the year. There’s some extra magic every first snowfall so it made this start to their day very memorable. As I drove to the mansion through the fresh dusting of fluffy snow, it felt like the holiday season was finally here. Maybe it’s the Minnesotan in me, but I can’t really get fully into the holiday spirit until I see the ground covered in snow.

The moment I stepped into the mansion I was greeted by a lovely welcoming committee from Jessica and Andrews family. Upon entering the bridal suite, the holiday spirit was in full swing and I was happily surprised as Jessica showed me the carefully crafted flatlay she had made for me. It was a beautiful representation of their day and the season. She then gave a few hugs to her family and we were off to meet Andrew for their first look. He stood by the window overlooking the freshly fallen snow as Jessica rounded the corner. The sweet pair laughed and admired each other before taking a seat by the fire to keep warm.

Jessica and Andrew had planned a romantic candlelight ceremony that would take place right after sunset. This gave us some time to greet the family and enjoy the American Swedish Institute. When we stepped outside the doors, we were treated to a surprise snowfall! Big fluffy flakes slowly fell around us so we knew we needed to take advantage of the moment. It felt very Swedish indeed, photographing the bundled up couple as the snow fell and the wind started to blow. We took shelter in the entry and made use of the gorgeous architecture and stone arches. Then just like that, the sun began to sink below the horizon line and it was time to prepare for the ceremony.

The room where they held their ceremony was filled with dark, rich wood, beautiful carpets, and gorgeous architectural details. A few modest garlands was all they needed since the room already felt ready for a celebration. Andrew stood next to the grand hearth and looked to the top of the stairs where Jessica soon appeared. Everyone watched in awe as she carefully walked down the stairs to stand by Andrews' side. The ceremony was sweet and personal and the cozy atmosphere made it feel very intimate and extra special. The room was filled with love and the guests couldn’t take their eyes off the happy couple.

After the ceremony, the pair gathered in front of their guests on the stairs to deliver a thank you speech and welcome everyone to their celebration. It was a beautiful setting that felt like it was taking place in a family home. Everyone followed the couple into the beautiful modern ballroom that was decorated with star lanterns and holiday decor. The guests looked on as the Bluewater Kings played and Jessica and Andrew twirled effortlessly across the dance floor. After the toasts, I stole them away for a few minutes to explore the mansion since we now had it all to ourselves. They took a deep breath and looked out the beautiful historic windows as the snowflakes danced outside, they danced inside. We went out to meet the falling snow and took a moment to breathe in the evening air and appreciate the magic that filled this day.
